The middle school basketball teams will travel to Emerson to play at 3:00 today. There will be no fan restrictions but social distancing and masks will be required.

Monday January 18th the Lady Chiefs will travel to Whiting for a JV / Varsity contest. There will be no limit on spectators but all must sit on the stage. At 6pm we will start JV with varsity to follow.

Basketball games tonight against Marty will be postponed due to weather conditions.

I would like to send out a special thank you to Chairman, Everett Baxter and the Tribal Council members for inviting our High School Student Council over to the tribal chambers. I am certain this will be one of many meetings to follow. We are very proud of our students for standing up and speaking to the council about issues they are facing everyday. Due to the incident in the community of Macy, the district is transporting all students who normally walk home to ensure they arrive safely. Student pick ups are running as normal, and parents of students who normally walk may also choose to pick up their students.

Academy Students and Parents/Guardians:
On Tuesday, January 19, ALL Academy students must arrive at school no later than 10 a.m. You may request transportation by calling the school before 9 a.m. We will pick students up between 8:15 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. If you still have a chromebook, charger, and/or mobile hotspot at home, please bring it to school to return. Tonight's basketball games will be held at Pender with both JV contests starting at 4:15 and varsity to follow. Admittance into the gym will be on a first-come first-serve basis with only 498 fans allowed. Masks covering mouth and nose and social distancing enforced. Today's Middle School basketball game will be at Walthill with the girls starting at 2:30 and boys to follow. Players were given 2 tickets to distribute to household members.

PUBLIC NOTICE
We are excited to announce that yesterday the UNPS Board of Education voted to require ALL students (K-12) to return to in-person learning for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year starting Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Only students with at-risk medical conditions with doctor's verification will be allowed to continue with online learning. Please have your students bring their Chromebook and charging cord with them back to school Tuesday, as those are the devices they will be using in the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s principal, Mr. Wanning K-8 or Mr. Pickinpaugh 9-12. We are eager to have all students safely return and resume face-to-face instruction!

Please be advised, picture retakes will take place this Thursday, January 14th from 9:00-2:00.

Tonight's home basketball game against Winside will be girls only starting with JV at 6:00 and varsity to follow. The girls were given entry tickets at practice yesterday to distribute you must have a ticket to enter the gym. Masks and social distancing are required at all times in the school.

On Friday, we celebrated our middle school students of the month. The focus this month was attendance. These students have done an amazing job at being here everyday! Please congratulate Kymani Miller (6th), Nayeli Cortez (7th, not pictured), and Joylie Lovejoy (8th)!
