The last week of school is here! Reminder for students to return Chromebooks if they haven't already for end of year check-in.
HISTORY MADE! For the first time ever The Chiefs will be in the football playoffs. We will play Tiospa Zina next Friday (5-21) at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell, SD. The game will start at 4:00. Entry fee into the game is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Masks and social distancing will be required and seating limited to the first 1500 fans.

District Track will be held on Thursday May 13th in Ponca. Events will start at 11:00. Good luck to all of our track athletes.
NSAA UPDATE - A physical will be required for ALL 9-12 students that wish to participate in NSAA athletic contests in the 2021-2022 school year. You can schedule them now and get them done before school starts. Any physical dated after May 1st will count for next year.
The Chiefs showed a lot of heart today and never quit. The boys put up a great fight at Lower Brule but lost 74-66. They came from over 20 behind twice to come within a score of a tie game. VERY PROUD OF THE ENTIRE TEAM!

TWO NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL RECORDS WERE SET YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!
Dailene Walker threw 26'2" in the shot put and Michah Zephier with 33.2 seconds in the 200 meters. So proud of all our Middle School track stars.
BEST EVER MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK MEET! Joylie Lovejoy - 5th Long jump. Michah Zephier - 3rd 100 meters. Desma Walker - 3rd - shot put. Desma Walker - 8th - discus. Tayven Wolfe - 5th - triple jump. Timothy Bertucci - 6th - discus. Tayven Wolfe - 8th - 100 meters. Dason Romo - 7th - 400 meters. Kendrick Dunn - 5th - Shot put. Koda Tyndall - 6th - Shot put. Two students won their events: Dailene Walker took 1st in the shot put and Michah Zephier took 1st in the 200 meters. She is the first girl ever from the school to get first in the 200.
The 5th grade class engaged in a music and math lesson with a variety of instruments and dice to work with beat and probability. Students were highly engaged and all had fun! Mrs. Barcelona and I enjoyed this experience.

The Middle School track team will be leaving Homer soon and should be back in Macy by 7:00.
Our students will be competing at the State Quiz Bowl Tournament in Hastings tomorrow. When you see them wish them good luck. The team consists of Lyndon Harlan, Leighton Grant, David Romo, Julius Webster, Todd Stabler, Jessen Lasley, Justin Lasely and Jahwon Woodhull with coach Wojcik. We will face Ogalla at 10:45 am. The football game Friday will be at Cheyenne Eagle Butte at 2:00 CST. The following are the spectator rules for attending the game. The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools believes limiting spectator attendance provides our students the best opportunity to complete their seasons and reduce the likelihood of community transmission.
Masks are mandatory for ALL spectators’ at ALL INDOOR/OUTDOOR events on Cheyenne-Eagle Butte property.
Spectators are asked to socially distance themselves away from those not in their immediate families to the best of their ability. Please sit in family units when possible.
Reentry at an event that requires vouchers will ONLY be allowed by obtaining a special reentry ticket from the ticket seller(s).
Please note: ONLY those individuals who possess an event & date specific voucher will be allowed in.
Cost of admission will be listed on admission vouchers. $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for school age children. All football players will be given three tickets today that must be presented with the entry fee to enter the game.
HOMECOMING GAME TODAY AT 1:30! No gate will be charged. Social distancing and masks are recommended. Chef Salads and taco in a bag for sale so come down and have lunch at the game.
Out of Respect, the White Eagle Club has postponed the Handgame Gourddance and Wardance to Sunday May 2nd 2021. Mourners meal will be served at 12 pm noon. A reminder: no personal chairs will be allowed, the school district will provide chairs. Temperature checks will be taken upon entering the building, masks need to be worn. UNPS is happy to announce that we now have a full-time Mental Health Therapist on staff. Ms. Terri Sturges has a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa and is currently in the process of obtaining her Mental Health Practitioner Degree. Terri has worked for the past 2 years in a private therapy setting, facilitating individual, couples, and group therapy. Prior to that she worked for the Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence for 17 years, helping those affected by trauma due to being in unsafe situations. Students identified in need of intervention can be referred to therapy through the Student Assistance Team by either parents/guardians or UNPS staff. Parent permission must be obtained prior to the start of service. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mr. Wanning or Mr. Pickinpaugh at 402-837-5622.
