This week’s spotlight is on Supa Powa Para Barb Wegner. Barbarino started here at U-Nation on January 10th, 2022 - A day that will go down in infamy here at U-Nation. A day when we were all #blessed. Barb comes to us from the metropolis of Bancroft where she is famous for her baked goods. In fact, she sometimes bakes food for the Cafe here at the school. And of course all of Barb’s dishes are made with pure love. In addition to cooking, Barb is the job coach for the CNA and Healthcare classes-which is a dream come true. In the picture, Barb can be seen demonstrating Infant CPR to her students. Well we think it is her... We can't actually see her face. Remember Barb, 30 and 2 when working with the little ones.
As long as Barb can remember she wanted to be a teacher but her life took her on a different path. So now that she is teaching she is stoked! “I love how the desires of my heart came through for me later in life,” said Barb. In addition to her job coaching duties, Barb is a Senior class sponsor…. this means that she totally favors her senior students (JK). Speaking of favorites.. Let’s talk about Barb’s favorite husband Mike. She has multiple husbands, but Mike is her favorite (JK). Barb and Big Mike have been married for 37 short years. “He still gives me butterflies after all these years,” said Barb. Together, Barb and Mike have four wonderful children: two boys and two girls. Here is a quick rundown of Barb’s Bambinos. Timothy is married to Emily and they have one son named Michael. Bethany is married to John and they have three sons: Brecken, Luke and Mack. Matthew is married to Andrea and they have Barb’s only granddaughter, ‘Emilia Barbara’. Brianna is married to Caleb and they have one giant Bernese Mountain dog named Andie who weighs a whopping 110 lbs.
Like all of us, Barb has some favs.
Food - Mashed potatoes and gravy (yummy!)
Hobbies - Reading a good book, gardening, cooking and being involved in her church. ‘The Catholic Church in Bancroft’ (glad we got that straight!)
Favorite Movie - The Notebook (she cries every time!)
And now for some Q and A:
What song should students listen to when doing work for your class? - I’m not sure but something from the 70’s
