The Chief’s Football team is geared up for its All Nation’s League playoff battle! The game will take place TODAY at the Wade Miller Memorial Sports Complex - with the kickoff slated for 2:00 P.M. We will be playing the Crazy Horse Chiefs for the second time this season. The first time around was a 56-24 beatdown. We are surprised they are coming back for more - It’s like Mr. T vs. Rocky. Prediction? ‘Pain.’ The winner of this game will advance to the second round of the playoffs which will take place on Saturday. But first thing’s first. Our boyz gotta take care of some business… and who better to prepare them than the Ol’ ball coach himself - Matt. Let’s get a short Q and A wiff him before the game.

J-Squad: What are three keys to victory today?
Coach Matt: Effort, Attitude, and Trust #EAT. If we give great effort, good things will happen. That great effort that results in good things, will lead to great attitudes. Everyone will feel good about themselves and the game. And finally, that great effort that leads to great, positive attitudes, will allow the guys to trust themselves, their teammates, and us as coaches. That trust ties it all together. Those, in my opinion, are the keys to getting wins.
J-Squad: We love it when our boys EAT! What will it mean to you if your boyz can take care of business and win our first home playoff game in the history of U-Nation.
Coach Matt: It would mean so much to all of us. These guys have a chance to wipe away the first home playoff game, which was a loss two years ago. I haven’t forgotten that game. But, you look at everything these guys have accomplished this year, how much the program has grown, etc. A win today, would be something special they’ll remember and this community will remember. We just have to take it one play at a time.
J-Squad: “If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs such as food and water were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?”
Coach Matt: If I could choose non-items, I would take my fiance Victoria and my cat Macy. Since those aren’t “items”, if I had to choose “items”, I would choose a complete weightlifting set and a TV that played ONLY Nebraska athletic games, the Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and March Madness.
