The Lady Chief Volleyball Team is now 18-2! THIS MEANS THAT THE LADIES HAVE SET THE ALL-TIME SINGLE SEASON RECORD FOR DUBS!! We here at the J-Squad would like to say that we are proud of each and every one of our Lady Chief players and coaches: Tylisha McCauley, Taylese McCauley, Tayla McCauley, Paris Parker, Mikkel Parker, Jaya Ross, Maleah Miller, Desma Walker, Alexis Patton, Dailene Walker, Mikesia Snow, Taylea Spears, Javianna Chavez, Coach Berkenpas and Coach B. Freemont. The record breaking dub came last night (Oct. 9) vs East Butler. See the box scores below for the complete breakdown of the beat down. But let’s rewind to the most exciting victory - victory number 16 on October 5th here in Macy. The ladies got down 0-2 vs Cornerstone but rallied to win three straight sets. Obviously Coach Berkenpas did some serious coaching that night.
J-Squad: What did you say to the ladies after we were down 0-2 vs. Cornerstone?
Coach Guy: I basically told them to ‘stop whining’ and start playing to up to their abilities.
In other words they got an old fashioned chewing out!!!! But even though the ladies have set the record, questions still remain. Will Guy get any more yellow cards? Will he dye his hair Chili red now that we have broken the record? At a movie theater, which arm rest does Guy use? These questions and more will be answered as the Lady Chiefs continue their season.
And now it’s time for some Q and A wiff dat coach.
Coach’s Corner Wiff Guy:
J-Squad: Congratulations on breaking the single season dub record. Your thoughts on such a momentous occasion?
Coach Guy: This team just keeps upping the bar. I think the girls have gained confidence in themselves at the right time of the season.
J-Squad: The team’s current winning streak stands at 14.. Do we know what the longest streak in school history is?
Coach Guy: I don't know what the longest streak in school history is, but math tells me that we are in the middle of it.
J-Squad: Dis guy is unconscious with his answers!! How would you grade our play at the net the past few games?
Coach Guy: We have faced some pretty good hitters the last few games. With some adjustments during the matches, the girls were able to take control.
J-Squad: How has the setting play graded out?
Coach Guy: Can’t complain about it one bit.
J-Squad: What will the focus be moving forward?
Coach Guy: Playing with effort and controlling their own attitudes!
J-Squad: Do you think dentists go to other dentists or do they just do it themselves?
Coach Guy: I think it would depend on their insurance.

Here’s a little reading snack for our loyal J-Squad members. Last night marked coach Guy’s 53rd coaching victory here at U-Nation. Ironically, the 53rd win came on his 54th Birthday! Almost freaky… Somebody bake that guy a cake!
Our next game is home vs Flandreau on Thursday, October 12. Start time is 5:00 PM.
