What is the program?

The Shinga Zhinga program is an in-school child development center designed to allow parents to continue their education. The program provides a “hands-on” parenting class for high school students. Shiⁿga-Zhiⁿga also coordinates with other services within the community that are available for the parent and child.

Sixpence Grant Requirements

Our Child Development Center is funded in part though the Sixpence Early Learning Fund. With this funding come certain requirements. These requirements include but not limited to:

  • 2 Home visits made by Childcare Staff

  • 2 Parent/Teacher Conferences

  • Assessment of growth and development

  • Documentation of growth and development

Monday-Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.

We follow Umoⁿhoⁿ Nation Public School school calendar for in-service days and school holidays. Early dismissals, late starts and cancellations due to weather will follow the school schedule. All weather and emergency announcement will be made through the media.

Visitation is limited to the following:

  • Parents/Guardians

  • Authorized School Employees

  • School Board Members

Visitors must enter through the school's main entrance and receive a visitor's pass. Consult handbook for further information.
